The Sun reports the following fatal workplace accidents in Harford County, Maryland, in January….

On January 28, a plumbing worker at the Northeastern Supply Inc. central distribution center near Aberdeen suffered “life-threatening injuries” from a fall off a forklift. The worker was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene of the construction accident. The case was referred to Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH), which is investigating the fatal accident. The company is a regional supplier of parts and appliances for HVAC.

On January 16, one construction worker was killed and another injured when a construction vehicle bumped a Jersey barrier along Route 24, sending a piece of the wall and debris into a streambed below where the men were working. Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police reported the accident took place near Rocks State Park, where State Highway Administration contractors have been working since last summer to shore up the Deer Creek stream bank below the highway. MOSH is also investigating this case.

On January 6, a paramedic working for the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company was fatally struck by a fire company vehicle that slipped on icy pavement while responding to an accident call at a home near Bel Air during snow and ice conditions. The Harford County Sheriff’s Office reported the paramedic was responding to an accident call to treat a woman who had been injured in a car accident on Patterson Mill Road. The paramedic was reportedly walking to a house to reach the accident victim when the other emergency vehicle slid on ice and fatally struck him.

We have seen the devastation accidents like these cause the families and friends of those lost while performing their jobs. Our sympathies go out to the deceased workers and their families.
